Today was the Special Olympics area games at Messiah College. MichaelAnn participated in the 25m wheelchair assisted race, 30m wheelchair slalom assisted race and the softball throw. It was a beautiful and perfect day for the Olympics. The athletes are assigned a buddy (a college student) that helps them with the events and to help them navigate through the day. MichaelAnn's buddy was Megan Krusemark. Megan was a nice, personable young lady who is junior studying Youth Ministry at Messiah. She has helped with the Special Olympics the past 3 years. Deb and Jennifer (MichaelAnn's school aides) were also there. Jen was, of course, working and Deb was there just to cheer MichaelAnn on. It was nice having supportive people there cheering for MichaelAnn and I believe, she also appreciated it.
